The arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy has ignited a storm of reactions from various political quarters, underscoring the polarized landscape of Indian politics.

Condemnation from Opposition Leaders

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor called for the Supreme Court's intervention, describing the arrest as a violation of democratic principles and political rights. His call for a march to Raj Bhawan signals a united front against what opposition leaders perceive as an attack on democratic norms.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin criticized the BJP-led government, labeling it as "fascist" and engaging in a desperate witch-hunt against opposition figures like Kejriwal. He highlighted the contrasting treatment between opposition leaders and BJP members, accusing the government of abuse of power.

Similarly, BRS working president K T Rama Rao condemned the arrest as "unlawful" and part of a political vendetta orchestrated by the BJP. Support and Resilience from AAP

In contrast, AAP minister Saurabh Bhardwaj expressed gratitude to opposition leaders who extended support to Kejriwal. He denounced the arrest as injustice and an attempt to dismantle the political party, raising questions about the Election Commission's role amid escalating tensions.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann symbolically stood by Kejriwal, emphasizing his resilience and the ideological strength he represents. He portrayed Kejriwal as more than an individual, but an idea that cannot be arrested, reflecting AAP's narrative of standing strong against adversity.

Digvijaya Singh from the Congress criticized the central government for setting a precedent of arresting elected leaders post-government change, questioning the move's democratic implications.

BJP's Response and Defiance

On the BJP side, leaders like Kapil Mishra welcomed Kejriwal's arrest, attributing it to justice against corruption allegations. Mishra's remarks signal the BJP's stance of capitalizing on the arrest to project a narrative of accountability and justice.

Bansuri Swaraj defended the ED's actions, citing Kejriwal's alleged lack of cooperation and diversionary tactics, indicating a staunch defense from the ruling party against accusations of political vendetta.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa from the BJP criticized AAP leaders for their response to the arrest, accusing them of hypocrisy and questioning their integrity.
